Amidst certain challenges – including accusations against Marjorie for involvement in Steve’s second marriage’s breakdown – the couple have emerged even stronger. Recently, Steve Harvey shared touching sentiments about Marjorie, moving fans to tears.

Steve Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia, the youngest of five children born to Eloise and Jesse Harvey.

During his formative years, Steve grappled with a stutter, which caused him considerable discomfort in social situations. However, as history reveals, this would change dramatically.

Steve Harvey’s Early Years: In the sixth grade, Harvey and his peers were tasked with outlining their dream professions. He boldly declared his aspiration to become an entertainer, only to face ridicule from the assigning teacher in front of the entire class.

The teacher, citing Harvey’s stutter, derided his ambition and even contacted Harvey’s mother to suggest he set his sights elsewhere.

Undeterred by skepticism, young Steve remained steadfast in his dream, seeking the necessary support.

His speech impediment dealt a blow to Harvey’s self-esteem, but his family rallied behind him, urging him to pursue greatness.

Harvey harbored a passion for humor since childhood. A local deli owner assisted him in refining his speech and composure, enabling him to overcome his stutter and ultimately prove his doubters wrong.

In a conversation with Oprah, Harvey recounted the day his teacher scoffed at his ambition to become an entertainer, inspiring him to respond with grace and generosity.

“Every year, while the teacher was alive, I’d send her a TV for Christmas because I wanted her to see me,” he shared.

Harvey relocated with his family to Cleveland during his youth and graduated from Glenville High School in 1974.

Steve Harvey’s Struggles with Homelessness: Following high school, Harvey pursued studies at West Virginia University before engaging in various jobs, including insurance sales and postal work, without discovering his true calling.

Years later, he stumbled upon his passion for comedy. In 1985, Harvey embarked on his stand-up comedy journey, honing his craft and gradually ascending in the entertainment realm.

He secured his inaugural headlining spot at Bruce Ayer’s Comedy Club in Birmingham, Alabama.

Initially, Harvey encountered numerous setbacks. He confided to People that he endured a three-year period of homelessness, resorting to theft to survive.

Living out of his car, Harvey utilized a small cooler as a makeshift refrigerator and frequented rest-stop facilities for hygiene. His diet primarily consisted of sandwiches, and he resorted to siphoning gas from stations to reach comedy venues.

According to reports, Harvey earned approximately $3,000 during his debut year as a comedian. Amidst personal turmoil, including his divorce from Marcia, finalized in 1994, and strained relations with his daughter, Harvey remained resolute in his pursuit of success, driven by his familial responsibilities.

Approximately 75% of his income was promptly allocated to Marcia and the twins, Brandi and Karli, leaving Steve with virtually no personal funds.

During what he describes as a “challenging” phase in his life, Steve Harvey found himself in dire straits, including an incident where he had to hide from hotel guests for hours while attempting to freshen up in a restroom sink.

“In that moment, I sat down and tears started flowing, but a voice whispered, ‘If you keep going, I’m going to take you places you’ve never been,'” Steve Harvey confided to People magazine.

It felt like a divine message urging him not to give up, assuring him that success was within reach. Not long after, his breakthrough arrived in the form of a televised opportunity at the Apollo Theater.

The Apollo marked a turning point for Steve’s career. In 1993, he assumed the role of host on the renowned program Showtime at the Apollo, a position he held until 2000. Concurrently, he launched his sitcom, The Steve Harvey Show, which propelled him further into the spotlight.

Teaming up with Cedric the Entertainer, who portrayed Harvey’s closest companion on the sitcom, Steve contributed to the acclaimed film The Original Kings of Comedy alongside Bernie Mac. The movie soared to popularity, solidifying Harvey as a beloved comedian across the United States.

Following the triumph of The Original Kings of Comedy, Harvey ventured into radio with The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Yet, his aspirations in television and comedy persisted, leading to a stint as host on a short-lived reality TV series in the mid-2000s, as well as forays into acting.

Despite excelling on camera and behind the microphone, Steve desired to expand his horizons. Thus, he delved into writing, achieving bestseller status with the relationship advice books Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man in 2009, and Straight Talk, No Chaser in 2010.

Steve Harvey skyrocketed to international fame as the new face of the iconic game show Family Feud. With his comedic flair in handling contestants’ queries and responses, Harvey became an internet sensation, captivating audiences worldwide.

Yet, amidst his professional achievements, Steve Harvey’s most significant milestone was meeting the love of his life. In 2007, he tied the knot with Marjorie Bridges, now Marjorie Harvey, and their enduring union has remained a source of joy. However, their relationship has weathered its share of challenges.

The couple first crossed paths in 1986 and briefly dated, but circumstances prevented their romance from blossoming. Marjorie, however, always recognized Steve’s kindness.

“Steve was always a sweetheart — he was a sweetheart then,” Marjorie shared with Essence. “He had a lot of people that just mistreated him, but he was such a sweetheart… He’s got a heart of gold.”

Their connection endured despite the passage of time and distance, with Marjorie reflecting on what could have been, had they acted on their feelings earlier. Nonetheless, their love story remains a testament to the power of timing and perseverance.

After divorcing his wife in 2005, Harvey and his spouse found their way back to each other. But what they shared was unlike anything he had experienced before.

“Marjorie changed the way I existed,” Steve Harvey disclosed to People Magazine in 2012. “I’d never been in a healthy adult relationship. I’d never been loyal, I’d never been fully respected.”

Marjorie faced accusations of contributing to the dissolution of his prior marriage, which ultimately fortified their bond. Regrettably, when the couple resumed dating, Marjorie was unjustly accused of being the catalyst for the end of Steve Harvey’s previous marriage. The talk show host vehemently rejected any negative remarks or rumors about his beloved wife. Marjorie brought three children, Morgan, Jason, and Lori, from a previous marriage, and after their wedding, Steve legally adopted them.

However, their relationship endured scrutiny due to allegations against Marjorie about sabotaging Steve’s previous marriage. Steve Harvey refuted such claims, asserting that they only got together after his divorce was finalized in 2005.

“Y’all quit talking about ‘she was in my other marriage and ruined it. She didn’t. She was nowhere around that. I got divorced in 2005,” Harvey stated on his radio show, Steve Harvey FM, emphasizing that Marjorie didn’t marry him for his success.

“Steve Harvey had nothing [then],” he continued. “I’m telling you, this woman got in the hole and built this with me. She didn’t steal anything. And I’m tired of y’all talking about my girl because my girl is one of the best women I’ve ever met.”

Moreover, Harvey asserted that the negative narrative surrounding their relationship only strengthened their bond.

“We’re a tighter two-hand circle now. So thank you for doing that. You’re not gonna split us up, we’re not going anywhere, and she is none of what you say she is, and she’s the best chick I know,” Steve Harvey affirmed.

Steve and Marjorie Harvey have built a fulfilling life with their children – and now grandchildren. Together, they operate The Steve Harvey and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, which assists under-resourced communities in obtaining the tools for success.

Furthermore, Marjorie oversees a program within the foundation dedicated to empowering young girls, fostering better self-esteem, mentoring them through their education, providing scholarships, and organizing meet-ups.

Steve Harvey’s heartfelt words to his beloved wife were evident on November 25 when he was honored at TheGrio Awards, receiving the Television Icon Award for his longstanding contributions to Hollywood. During his acceptance speech, he openly expressed his love and gratitude for his wife, acknowledging her unwavering support through life’s ups and downs.

“That woman right there, she’s been down with me like four flat tires,” an emotional Steve Harvey revealed. “That woman right there has been faithful to me, loyal to me. 85% of what y’all up here talking to me about happened after I married that girl right there.”

He concluded, “We’ve been 18 years strong — I don’t know what y’all been trying to do, but we’re covered though … Imma give this to you. I love you, Marjorie Harvey. I appreciate you riding with me.”

According to Good Housekeeping, fans swiftly took to social media to express their adoration and admiration for Steve Harvey’s heartfelt sentiments towards his wife.

“I got emotional watching this! Steve is amazing,” one individual expressed on X (previously known as Twitter).

“Exactly what I needed to see!! Sending tons of love to your family!!” another chimed in.

A third commenter remarked, “This is beautiful! Steve embodies authenticity! Such a wonderful husband.”
