Kid Rock reaffirmed his intoxicated 2019 tirade against Oprah during a recent interview with Tucker Carlson on Tuesday, June 7th.
The subject of a years-old diatribe surfaced during Carlson’s latest Fox Nation documentary, “Life of a Rockstar: Kid Rock.” Sporting a patriotic red, white, and blue trucker hat adorned with “We the People,” the musician candidly spoke to the conservative commentator, stating, “A drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts. I stand by what I said. I owe no apologies to anyone. I’m not a fan of Oprah Winfrey. I got drunk, and the next thing I knew, I was on stage saying, ‘F— Oprah…'”
During his spontaneous remarks at Nashville’s Honky Tonk bar prior to the pandemic, Rock also targeted The View co-host Joy Behar and former Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee host Kathie Lee Gifford—though he now contends that the latter was a slip of the tongue, asserting that he had intended to criticize comedian Kathy Griffin instead.
“I was actually trying to go after Kathy Griffin, you know, for holding up Trump’s head, but I’m so out of it that I’m like, ‘Forget Kathie Lee Gifford,'” he clarified. “Later on, when it resurfaces on TMZ or wherever, a few weeks later, I’m like, ‘Oh man, I actually like Kathie Lee Gifford.’ We’ve had a sort of friendly relationship throughout the years.”
In March, Rock’s latest album, Bad Reputation, debuted at No. 124 on the Billboard 200 — a departure from the chart-topping success of his previous eight major label records, all of which entered the top 10. He’s currently promoting the album with a tour, commencing each night with a video message from former President Donald Trump.
