In one viral prom picture, five young women lined up together, but what caught attention was a detail that might initially go unnoticed but certainly prompts opinions upon closer inspection.
It’s important to note that teenagers attending prom are typically under the legal drinking age of 21 in the United States. While not everyone may choose to consume alcohol on prom night, it’s a relatively common occurrence. Even in areas with a lower legal drinking age, such as the UK, bringing alcohol to school events where minors are present is prohibited.
In this particular picture, one of the girls is holding what appears to be a purse. However, upon closer examination, it’s revealed to be a sizable flask.
Eleanor Clarke, the student in question, chose to flout the rules by bringing a flask to the prom. While she may have been of legal drinking age in the UK, carrying alcohol into an event where minors are present is still a violation.
Then again, it’s uncertain whether she actually filled the flask with alcohol or if it was simply a playful prank. What we do know is that she successfully used the hip flask as a unique clutch accessory, reportedly purchased for $12 from Tiger.
Love it or hate it, this incident highlights the creativity and resourcefulness of teenagers when they set their minds to something.
