Demi Moore dons jaw-dropping dress to Met Gala – made from wallpaper and took 11,000 hours to embroider

Predictably, the 2024 Met Gala unveiled a plethora of eccentric and enchanting ensembles, yet actress Demi Moore arguably stole the spotlight with her captivating attire.

Making her first Met Gala appearance in half a decade, the 61-year-old graced the red carpet adorned in a gown crafted from an unexpected material… drumroll please… wallpaper!

The ensemble in question featured heart-shaped wings extending from Moore’s sides, alongside a pink-and-white floral pattern complemented by diamond jewelry from Cartier.

Capturing the gaze of photographers and viewers worldwide, Moore disclosed that the dress was surprisingly lightweight, evoking a desire to dance the rumba.

Indeed, the exquisite gown, crafted by Harris Reed, is ingeniously fashioned from wallpaper, a feat requiring an astonishing 11,000 hours of silk embroidery.

“The inspiration stemmed from this magnificent Cartier necklace adorning Demi,” the designer elaborated at the event.

“It was inspired by the floral feeling it gave me. The entire piece is crafted from vintage archival wallpaper, repurposed into this concept. With 11,000 hours of silk embroidery, we aimed to portray her blossoming on the carpet. I envisioned myself as the vines to her thorns.”

Moore’s last appearance at the Met Gala dates back to the pre-COVID-19 pandemic era of 2019, where she opted for an all-black gown with a plunging neckline designed by Saint Laurent.

Just last month, the star of Indecent Proposal turned heads at Dolce and Gabbana’s 40th anniversary celebration. For the occasion, the 61-year-old actress chose a sheer black dress, pairing it with basic black undergarments and simple black heels.

Allowing her attire to command attention, Moore kept her makeup subtle with a soft-pink lipstick and bold mascara. She chose not to adorn herself with any jewelry, while her luxurious dark locks cascaded down to her waist.
