‘BLASPHEMY’: Taylor Swift Embroiled In New Controversy After Christian Protests
In Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, a demonstration arose in opposition to candles exhibited at a nearby store’s “Swiftie Super Bowl Eve Party” on the Saturday preceding the Super Bowl. Demonstrators gathered outside Mixed Bag MKE on Silver Spring Drive, holding signs expressing their religious convictions and denouncing what they perceived as “blasphemy” and “sacrilege.”
According to one person interviewed by FOX6 News, the protest was triggered in part by prayer candles embellished with pictures of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, sparking contention.
Protester Evan Olwell expressed vehement disapproval, asserting, “This is a disrespectful portrayal of Jesus and Mary. They hold profound significance for us; they are not subjects for jest. Our reverence for these religious icons surpasses that for our own family members.”
Despite the uproar, the store celebrated a historic day of sales, generating $360 in donations for Street Angels, a revered organization dedicated to assisting Milwaukee’s homeless population.
The attention wasn’t limited to Swift and Kelce; luminaries like Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers, Hollywood’s Ryan Gosling, and the cherished late “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek were also commemorated on the store’s candles.
