NFL reporter confirms the heartbreaking loss of his 2-year-old daughter following a cancer diagnosis.

NFL reporter Doug Kyed has tragically shared that his two-year-old daughter passed away, nine months after her heartbreaking leukemia diagnosis.

According to reports, little Hallie Kyed received the shocking diagnosis in April 2023. Her father, Doug, who is employed at the Boston Herald, announced on Instagram that his daughter had lost her battle in January 2024.

Yed shared that the situation worsened when Hallie experienced a relapse subsequent to her bone marrow transplant.

“Doug penned, ‘Hallie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning as Jen and I clasped her hands in bed. We are utterly devastated and lost without Hallie. Our existence will forever bear the mark of her absence.'”

After Hallie’s relapse, Doug expressed the family’s efforts to maintain optimism despite the formidable challenges ahead for his daughter,

“The reporter emphasized, ‘I’m maintaining a positive outlook,’ during the interview.

“Reflecting on Hallie’s journey, Doug expressed, ‘Hallie has triumphed over every obstacle AML has thrown her way thus far. While this may be her most daunting challenge yet, if there’s anyone who can overcome it, it’s our resilient Hallie Bear.’

“Despite their optimism, Doug acknowledged, ‘We understood the grim prognosis when Hallie relapsed after her bone marrow transplant. Last week, the entire family spent precious moments at the hospital, clinging to hope for remission. Hallie’s bravery, strength, and resilience throughout her nine-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia and its myriad complications kept us hopeful.’

“According to the American Cancer Society, acute myeloid leukemia originates in the bone marrow but swiftly infiltrates the bloodstream. From there, it can metastasize to the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and central nervous system.

In an interview with the Boston Herald, Doug revealed that he had devoted nearly half of his evenings to staying at Boston’s Children’s Hospital since his daughter’s diagnosis last year.

“We’ve been taking turns caring for Hallie and our 5-year-old, Olivia, at home,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, Jen, Doug’s wife, described the sensation of losing her daughter as akin to having a void in her heart.

“There’s this immense void in my heart, and the pain is unbearable,” shared Jen Kyed. “I’ll never comprehend why or how something so terrible could occur.”

May Hallie rest in peace.
