After receiving a cancer diagnosis, Queen Camilla speaks out against Kate Middleton

For several months, there has been uncertainty surrounding Kate Middleton’s condition and whereabouts. Kensington Palace has only released sparse details about her stomach surgery in January, and Prince William has shared limited insights during official royal engagements. Neither King Charles nor Queen Camilla have made any public statements regarding Kate’s situation.

Last Friday, Kate revealed that she has received a cancer diagnosis, although the specifics of her condition remain undisclosed, as per her request for privacy. Despite this challenging time, the family spent quality time together during a three-week holiday at Anmer Hall near Sandringham over the Easter period.

Kate Middleton faced significant scrutiny when it was discovered that her Mother’s Day portrait had been altered. However, Queen Camilla has gracefully handled the backlash from both the public and media. Her strong bond with Kate Middleton was evident this week when she publicly addressed Kate’s cancer diagnosis for the first time.

The news of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis was revealed a week before Easter, surprising people worldwide. In a video shared on social media, the Princess of Wales assured her supporters that despite the grim prognosis, she is determined to be resilient. She sat on a bench in Windsor’s garden, reminiscent of moments spent with her children.

In her statement, Kate Middleton expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and patience during her recovery from surgery. She acknowledged the challenging months her family has endured and thanked her medical team for their exceptional care.

In January, I underwent extensive abdominal surgery in London, initially diagnosed as non-cancerous. However, subsequent testing revealed malignancy, prompting my medical team to recommend prophylactic chemotherapy, which I am currently undergoing.

This news came as a profound shock, and for the sake of our young family, William and I chose to process and manage it privately. It has taken time to come to terms with this reality. Before commencing treatment, I needed to recover from the significant operation. Most importantly, we needed to reassure and explain to George, Charlotte, and Louis that everything would be alright in a manner appropriate for their understanding.

“We ask for privacy, space, and time at this juncture.”

Focusing on activities conducive to my mental, physical, and spiritual well-being has been instrumental in my recovery, as I’ve shared with them. William’s unwavering support provides immense comfort and strength, as does the overwhelming love and kindness from many of you. This means a lot to both of us.

We kindly request understanding for our family’s need for privacy, space, and time as I undergo treatment. While I eagerly anticipate returning to my duties, my priority now is my full recovery.

My thoughts are with everyone facing cancer. To those battling this illness, please remember, you are not alone.

Kate Middleton revealed that her family was deeply shocked by the news. While we can only speculate about Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis’s reaction, it’s evident that their well-being is paramount to William and Kate.

As the Princess of Wales undergoes chemotherapy, their focus remains on safeguarding their children. Thus, the timing of the public announcement of the cancer news at 6 p.m. GMT was deliberate, ensuring minimal disruption to their family routine.

The timing of when George, Charlotte, and Louis were informed about their mother’s cancer remains unknown.

However, according to the Sunday Times, the public announcement of the cancer news was strategically made a few hours after the children’s school ended, likely to minimize immediate inquiries from their peers. By then, it’s presumed they had been informed.

A royal insider explained to the Times, “George is ten now and can’t be shielded from any of this now. He won’t be able to avoid it once it’s in the school playground and at the school gate.”

As for how Prince William and Kate Middleton broached the subject with their children, Grant Harrold, former butler of King Charles, suggests they tailored their explanations differently. Harrold told the NY Post that when informing Prince Louis, they likely “sugarcoated” the information, while discussions with George and Charlotte were likely more candid.

“The older children can understand more, so I’d imagine it was a little more frank but undoubtedly staying positive, which is so important,” Harrold remarked.

While Prince Louis, at five years old, may not fully grasp the situation, Harrold believes the children will handle it as expected, influenced by their parents’ calm demeanor.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s decision to spend time at Anmer Hall until April 17 aligns with their desire for family support during this challenging time. Their recent meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Sandringham House underscores the family’s unity during these health crises.

Following King Charles’ cancer treatment, Queen Camilla has assumed a significant role within the royal family, garnering praise for her support and management of the situation, as noted by royal researcher Angela Levin.

Despite her initial reluctance for the spotlight, Queen Camilla’s accessible nature and sense of humor have endeared her to the public, demonstrating her strength and support for the royal family during challenging times.

“In order to support her spouse, who they were together for more than 50 years—before they were even married—she knows him quite well,” Angela Levin remarked on GB News. “It’s a long time, and they make each other laugh.”

Following the discovery that Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day portrait had been altered, she faced significant backlash on social media. As news outlets removed the image from their platforms, Kate became the center of increasing conspiracy theories.

While the video announcing her cancer diagnosis provided clarity on her subdued presence, some argued that the release of a photo of herself and her children that had been altered was already distressing.

Camilla became a crucial source of support for Kate Middleton amid intense scrutiny following the Mother’s Day photo incident.

According to Camilla Tominey, assistant editor of The Telegraph, in an interview on Today, the queen “has been trying to help [Catherine] through the media storm aspect in all of this.”

“Camilla understands what it’s like to guide kids through a media maelstrom,” Tominey continued. “She understands the challenges of being in the media.”

While Prince William made brief remarks about his wife’s health in February, members of the royal family remained largely silent when asked about Kate and King Charles in public. However, Queen Camilla finally addressed Kate a few days ago.

With King Charles undergoing cancer treatments, Camilla has stepped up to fulfill various royal obligations in his absence.

During her visit to Shrewsbury last week, just before Easter, Queen Camilla encountered many royal admirers at a farmer’s market.

Breaking her silence about Kate Middleton, Queen Camilla acknowledged a sign from two young girls, which read, “Send our love to Kate,” adorned with adorable artwork, hearts, and stars.

Upon seeing the sign, Queen Camilla stopped and addressed the young girls, saying, “I know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support,” as reported by royal analyst Rebecca English.
