ROYAL TRAGEDY 😭💔 Heartbreak for King Charles. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing. Check the first comment ⤵️⤵️

The king’s dear friend, Captain Ian Farquhar, has passed away at the age of 78.

Ian shared a longstanding friendship with both the King and Queen Camilla, spanning many years. Additionally, he served as the Queen Mother’s trusted rider.

He was also renowned as a skilled hunter and an accomplished horseman, having served in the Queen’s Own Hussars.

The passing of Lord (Jacob) Rothschild, who died last week at the age of 87, adds to the burdens already borne by the King, who is grappling with his own cancer diagnosis.

In 2000, during Prince William’s gap year, he enjoyed a romantic relationship with Ian’s daughter, Rose Farquhar. The couple often embarked on idyllic picnics in the scenic countryside of Gloucestershire.

Ian had been renting a farmhouse on the King’s Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire for quite some time.

Stephen Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s ex-husband, revealed to the Daily Mail that Ian had been battling a severe illness.

Andy informed them that Ian had passed away at Highgrove early Wednesday morning. Reflecting on Ian’s younger years, he commented, “He was spirited as a hawk, yet always a source of joy.”

Andy further honored Ian, affirming that he would be celebrated as “one of the most accomplished Masters of Hounds.” Ian held the esteemed position of Master of the Beaufort Hunt for an impressive 34 years.

Here’s the Instagram post from the Beaufort Hunt honoring its former master:

“It is with heavy hearts that we extend our deepest love and condolences to the family and friends of our beloved Captain Ian Farquhar. For 34 remarkable years, he guided us with unwavering dedication, and this week, he peacefully departed.”

“Within the hunting community, Ian was revered and cherished as ‘Captain.’ He was a beacon of assistance, warmth, and wisdom, always ready to offer insightful advice to those in need.”

“With a mischievous sense of humor, Ian left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to share in his company. His tales of adventure, both in the army and in the hunt, will be cherished forever by those who had the privilege of hearing them.

Captain adored hounds, his family, and dogs alike. We envision a whole pack of eager canines awaiting him above, thrilled to reunite with their beloved companion.

“A genuine countryman and a gentleman through and through – his absence will be deeply felt.”
