The secret my wife hid from me and our son is described. Read full story in comment…

Robert, a 32-year-old husband and father, has been adeptly juggling work and family life alongside his wife, Candice, and their five-year-old son, Samuel, lovingly referred to as “Sam.”

Robert and Candice have enjoyed eight blissful years of marriage. Initially, they both worked, but for the past five years, Robert has taken on the role of sole provider while Candice has lovingly embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom.

While Robert dedicated long hours at work until 7 p.m. on weekdays, Candice ensured their home ran smoothly and their son, Samuel, was well cared for.

However, a concerning shift occurred when Robert noticed a change in Samuel’s behavior towards Candice. Samuel began avoiding her affectionate gestures, and Robert sensed something was amiss. He couldn’t understand why his son seemed distant from his mother.

As days passed, Robert decided to have a heart-to-heart with Samuel.

“Sam, why have you been avoiding Mom lately?” Robert inquired one day while Candice was out running errands.

“Mom seems different. She has a secret she won’t tell me,” Samuel replied, his expression clouded with confusion and sadness.

“What do you mean? What secret?” Robert asked, fearing what his son might reveal.

“Whenever you’re at work, Mom cries in her room. When I asked her why, she screamed at me to leave. Once, I saw her with a photo, but she quickly hid it in a green box under the mattress,” Sam explained.

Robert was stunned. He wondered what could cause his wife so much sadness, and what was in that green box.

“How often does Mom cry?” Robert inquired urgently.

“Almost every day this week. She thinks I don’t notice, but I hear her and see her red eyes. She locks her door now, and when I ask her what’s wrong, she pretends everything’s fine. I don’t like it, Dad. You need to do something,” Sam expressed his concern.

“Don’t worry, son. Mom must have her reasons. I’ll talk to her,” Robert reassured Sam. But inside, he was deeply troubled because he had no clue what was troubling his wife.

After their talk, Sam went to play in his room. Though he knew it was wrong, Robert couldn’t resist checking under the mattress for the green box that troubled his wife.

Inside, he found jewelry and a photo.

The picture showed a happy family, but what caught Robert’s eye was the striking resemblance between the man in the photo and Candice. Dark thoughts flooded Robert’s mind. Could Candice be having an affair? Who was this unknown family?

With the photo in hand, Robert confronted Candice.

“Do you have a secret lover?” he asked, his voice trembling.

“What? Rob, what are you talking about?” Candice replied defensively.

Seeking answers, Robert showed her the photo. “Who is this?”

Candice’s response was immediate and revealing. “Oh no… I never wanted this to come out,” she confessed, the weight of her secret finally surfacing.

Robert’s heart raced as he tried to comprehend. “Are you admitting to cheating on me?”

“No! I never cheated. Okay, I’ll tell you everything, but please promise not to tell anyone,” she pleaded.

After a deep breath, she began her story.

“Before my grandma passed away, she gave me this photo,” Candice revealed, her emotions raw. “She told me to decide what to do with it on my own.

“She revealed that my mother had an affair and gave birth to twins: me and my brother. Her lover wanted to be a father, but my mom stayed with my dad. They agreed to each take one child and raise them separately. My dad never knew.”

Before he died, Candice’s real father told her grandmother the truth and gave her the photograph of her brother.

“My parents have been together for over 35 years. It would crush my dad if he found out. But I want to know my brother,” she confessed, her inner turmoil evident.

Robert was stunned by this revelation.

“Is that your twin brother in the photo?” Robert asked.

“Yes,” Candice confirmed, the resemblance striking.

Embracing her, Robert apologized. “I’m sorry for doubting you. But why all the tears?”

“I cry because I never knew my real father. And I can’t reach out to my brother without hurting my parents,” she confessed, her voice breaking with emotion.
