King Charles’s funeral plans being updated in light of cancer treatment – “It’s not good”, claims insider

Details regarding King Charles’s condition amid his cancer battle remain scarce, with updates from the Palace being infrequent.

Earlier this year, it was disclosed that the monarch had received a diagnosis of an unspecified form of cancer subsequent to a routine procedure for an enlarged prostate in January.

Since then, Charles has reportedly been dividing his time between London, where he receives treatment, and the royal estate of Sandringham, his chosen retreat for rest and recovery.

The state of the King’s health amid his battle remains a topic of considerable speculation. While the Palace was forthcoming about his diagnosis, they did not disclose the specific type of cancer he has or its stage.

Concerningly, a recent report from the Daily Beast, echoed by TMZ, suggests that His Royal Highness’s health is deteriorating. While Charles has appeared robust and well during the few public appearances since January, behind the scenes, his condition is purportedly less promising.

Indeed, according to the Daily Beast, the King’s aides are reportedly updating his funeral arrangements regularly, with the operation being given the code name ‘Operation Menai Bridge’.
TMZ has quoted a royal insider as saying, “Of course he is determined to beat it and they are throwing everything at it. Everyone is staying optimistic, but he is really very unwell. More than they are letting on.”
It’s understandable that funeral plans are being considered given Charles’s age and health concerns. Planning for a monarch’s funeral is an extensive process regardless, but the notion that his treatment may not be progressing as hoped is certainly sobering.
Recent reports have also suggested that Charles is planning to extend an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to visit the UK later this year, with the intention of spending more time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Considering the strained relationship between Charles and Prince Harry in recent years, as well as the comments made by Harry and Meghan since relocating to the US, it’s not surprising that Charles hasn’t had as much time with Archie and Lilibet as he would have liked.
“I can see Charles desperately wanting to see the children, and extending this olive branch to Meghan and Harry,” a royal insider told Page Six. “He may decide that life is just too short. Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit.”
