John Travolta’s late wife, Kelly Preston, made a significant sacrifice by carrying their baby at the age of 47. Today, their “miracle” child has grown into a young man. Join the conversation in the comments to see how he looks now!

John Travolta has navigated many challenges throughout his life, endearing himself to fans not only through iconic roles like greaser Danny Zuko but also through his genuine nature and dedication as both a parent and a husband. His resilience continues to inspire and uplift others.

In July of 2020, John Travolta’s wife of 28 years, Kelly Preston, tragically lost her life after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 57 years old. Since this heartbreaking loss, Travolta has been focusing on staying positive for the sake of their two children, daughter Ella and son Benjamin. Despite the immense grief, he remains dedicated to providing love and support for his family during this difficult time.

Before facing the devastating loss of his beloved wife, the Travolta family endured another heartbreaking tragedy when their 16-year-old son, Jett, passed away in January 2009 after experiencing a seizure.

During a holiday in the Bahamas, Jett suffered a seizure that ultimately led to his passing, leaving his parents devastated. Reflecting on this profound loss, Travolta shared his anguish with US Weekly, stating, “It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life. The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it.”

Following Kelly Preston’s passing, a family representative shared the heartbreaking news with People, revealing, “Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends.”

Describing Preston as a “bright, beautiful, and loving soul,” the statement emphasized her profound impact on those around her and requested privacy for the grieving family.

Preston’s decision to keep her breast cancer diagnosis confidential was respected by her colleagues, as revealed by her co-star in her final film, “Off the Rails,” Sally Phillips. Speaking on the British talk show “Loose Women,” Phillips disclosed that they were unaware of Preston’s health struggle during filming. Phillips explained that such discretion is common among actors due to concerns about movie insurance and future job prospects.

She emphasized, “That’s what people do—they go through it on their own because of worries about insurance for the film, and working again afterward.” Phillips also referenced similar instances involving celebrities like Chadwick Boseman and Helen McCrory, who chose to keep their health battles private.

Travolta also shared his sentiments about his loss, expressing gratitude on Instagram: “My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.” He took a moment to acknowledge everyone who had supported him and his family during their difficult journey.

Facing his first birthday without Kelly, Travolta found solace with his children by his side. Ella, who is following in her parents’ footsteps with a budding career in film, penned a touching tribute to her father, describing him as “the most incredible man I have ever known.”

“You are not only the best Dad ever, but you are also my best friend. Thank you for raising us, helping us, and loving us, and thank you for all of the good you do every day. The world is so lucky to have you, and so are we. I love you Daddy. I had the best time celebrating your birthday with you yesterday,” Ella wrote.

On what would have been Kelly’s 59th birthday, Travolta took to Instagram to honor his beloved late wife with a heartfelt tribute. Sharing a photo of her, he captioned it, “Happy Birthday Kelly. We miss and love you very much.”

Ella, deeply missing her mom, also shared her sentiments with a touching message. “Happy Birthday Mama, I love and miss you so much,” she wrote.

Following the profound loss he endured, some of Travolta’s friends reportedly attempted to support him by encouraging him to re-enter the dating scene. However, it seems that the actor is still grappling with his grief and is not yet ready to move on.

“John’s had no shortage of friends wanting to set him up, and there are a lot of women who would love to go out with him,” an insider shared with OK! Magazine.

“John is flattered, but he just isn’t interested.

“No one wants to push him because they understand he’s torn between opening himself up to love again and staying single and being the best father he can be. Until John can figure things out, everyone is giving him the space he needs.”

During an appearance on Kevin Hart’s talk show, “Heart to Heart,” Travolta opened up about a conversation he had with his son Benjamin following his mother’s passing.

“[Ben] said to me once, ‘Because mom passed away, I’m afraid you’re going to,'” Travolta recalled. “I said, ‘Well, it’s a very different thing.’ And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life.”

“I said, ‘But you know, Ben, you always love the truth and I’m going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay,’” he continued.

“I said, ‘Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who’s to say?’ I said, ‘I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can. So let’s look at it that it’s a part of life. You don’t know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can.’”

Maintaining a low profile, John Travolta discussed his approach to dealing with grief in an interview with Esquire Mexico.

“I’ve learned that mourning, grieving, is a personal thing. It’s individual, and only your own journey can heal you,” Travolta shared with the magazine. “It’s different for each person. The best thing you can do to help someone who is grieving is to let them go through it and not mix it with your own. That’s what I’ve learned.”

Travolta takes immense pride in his two children, with whom he shares a close bond.

Throughout the years, he has consistently expressed his love for his children publicly, emphasizing their significance in his life. What’s heartwarming is that Ella and Benjamin reciprocate this sentiment.

Ella, who has followed in her famous parents’ footsteps and forged her own path as an actress, holds her dad in the highest regard, describing him as the most important person in her life and her role model.

Known for her roles in movies like “Old Dogs” (2009) and “The Poison Rose” (2019), Ella shared her passion for performing, singing, dancing, and putting on shows for her loved ones since she was very young.

On Father’s Day, the “Saturday Night Fever” star expressed his sentiments about fatherhood, stating, “It’s a privilege to be a father. I love you, my babies. Happy Father’s Day to everyone,” alongside photos of his children.
