54-year-old Mariah Carey criticized for red carpet outfit – ‘this is not something you should be wearing’

Mariah Carey, the iconic singer, always knows how to make a statement, and her recent appearance at a star-studded event was no exception. All eyes were on her as she confidently rocked a daring outfit that had everyone talking.

At the third annual Recording Academy Honors, Mariah Carey, 54, turned heads with her choice of attire. She opted for a cream dress adorned with sheer caramel-colored tulle details, accentuating her figure with a flattering silhouette. However, the outfit’s plunging neckline drew attention to areas that some deemed inappropriate for the occasion.

While some fans praised Mariah Carey’s look, with one saying, “I like it,” and another remarking how the dress seemed to be “MADE for her,” others were more critical. Some deemed the dress inappropriate for someone her age, with one user commenting, “Maybe in the early ’90s Mariah, but that’s not really something you should be wearing at 54.” Another person added, “At a certain age you just need to cover it up…” while a third shared, “Someone needs to remind her that she’s 54, not 24.”

Mariah is no stranger to critical comments online, as people often leave judgmental remarks on the star’s social media. In 2017, the pop star uploaded pictures of herself and then-boyfriend Bryan Tanaka on Instagram and received a slew of fat-shaming comments.

“Mariah, you need to lose some weight cause you’re starting to look like a whale,” one person commented on the picture. Others added that the singer looked like “a tease” and that she needed to “cover those airbags,” or that she “looked gross.” The singer has been on the receiving end of many unfair comments.

Absolutely! Celebrities, like everyone else, have the right to express themselves through their fashion choices. What matters most is how they feel in what they wear and whether it makes them feel confident and empowered. It’s essential to respect their autonomy and individuality, regardless of whether we personally like their style or not.
