Jane Fonda criticizes Jennifer Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck: ‘Feels too much’

Jane Fonda, who shares a close bond with Jennifer Lopez, has expressed some reservations despite the public’s positive response to their reunion. The 86-year-old actress has been vocal about Lopez’s reconciliation with Affleck.
Once strangers on set, they became friends while working together on 2005’s Monster-in-Law. Over time, their bond deepened, leading Lopez to include Fonda in her upcoming documentary This Is Me Now: A Love Story, given their close relationship.
In the documentary, Fonda candidly addresses two concerns with the reunited couple.
Fonda conveyed to Lopez, “I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I genuinely want this to succeed,” as reported by Variety. However, my apprehensions lie in this realm. It seems like there’s an element of proving something rather than simply enjoying the relationship. The prevalence of intimate moments like making out or snuggling in the photos you’ve shared is a cause for concern.
“That’s just us living our lives,” Lopez retorted, brushing off the remark.
Fonda expressed being “genuinely frightened” upon seeing photos of Affleck at the 2023 Grammys, and she openly shared her concern.
“Oh my God, what’s going on? I was genuinely frightened because of all the chaos surrounding the Grammys, and he appears unhappy.”
Lopez reassured Fonda that there was “nothing” wrong with her relationship; Affleck was simply “like, ‘I’ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man.'”
Despite her critiques, Fonda added that she believed “everyone in the entire world is rooting for this relationship and this love,” emphasizing that the way the couple presents their relationship is “so crucial.”
“It should be managed in a manner that doesn’t overly flaunt it, to the extent that it generates any sort of criticism or resentment.”
